Louisville International Airport (SDF)
Travel and Ground Transport
(Louisville, Kentucky - KY, USA)
Apart from hiring a car, you can get to downtown Louisville and the many hotels in the area by bus, shuttle, taxi and limousine. Local buses offer the cheapest option for traveling between Louisville International Airport (SDF) and the city center, although these are not usually so convenient for hotel access.
Visitors should check with their hotel about shuttle services prior to their arrival for a more convenient means of transport.
Buses
The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) operates buses from the airport to downtown including the efficient local bus number 2; you can pick up a free TARC schedule from the information booth at the terminal. Buses go from the island at the east end of the terminal and require the correct change.
Hotel Shuttles
Many of Louisville's better hotels have their own shuttle services for transport from the airport direct to their establishments and there is a free phone service in the terminal for shuttle services and hotel reservations. Various hotel shuttles depart from the blue curb to the right of the taxi stand, just outside the terminal entrance.
Taxi Cabs
The fastest option for getting to hotels and downtown Louisville from Louisville International Airport (SDF) is to take a taxi cab; the taxi rank is located just outside of Arrivals on the traffic island. Yellow Cab and Ready Cab are the official taxi firms operating from the airport and sharing is available on request.
Limousines
For comfort and efficiency, limousines are available for transport to the city, hotels and beyond, although they must be booked prior to arrival at Louisville International Airport. Limousine companies include Cosmopolitan Limousine, Extreme Transportation and SunnySide Connections, all of which depart from the yellow curb in front of the terminal.
